About chatlinQ

Welcome!

chatlinQ is a NATIVE stand alone chat program for accessing gay.com chat rooms and messaging system.

It features a superior user interface to provide an overall better chat experience. In fact, this is chatlinQ’s “raison díêtre”. I could not stand the fussy and inelegant gay.com ajax chat system.

chatlinQ is chat done differently!

Currently chatlinQ is being developed for Mac. (iPhone development in tandem.) Other platforms contingent upon interest and motivation to learn and code for those particular platforms.

I’m thrilled with how’s it turning out and hope you are too! Either way, let me know!

[For those of you on windows, linux or even Mac users who want to try another program, please check out Morarchat at http://morarchat.com. The developer and I are on friendly terms, frequently talk about server issues and generally help each other from time to time.]

gay.com and connection issues

Over the past several days, i’ve noticed connection issues with gay.com … they’ve since seemingly fixed it, with one slight glitch. If you are using comcast as your internet provider, you may still be having issues. I know of no workarounds at this time. (This may affect clearwire users as well.)

Best suggestion, connect to gay.com via a different ISP and report it. Also, make your voice heard at comcast as well.

I have several emails out to folks on both sides to see if they have any insight into the issue.

If you find any information, please reply in the comments.

Thanks,
Jack

Site update, status update

Some of you may have noticed, or soon will notice that the site is undergoing some changes. I’ve decided to move the “blog” aspect of things to it’s own area, specifically for the beta. All login information should have carried over without issue.

Also, don’t mistake the last of an update as a sign that the project is dead. It’s most certainly not. I’ve been taking the time to do some very thorough error checking, tweaking, as well as begin the development on the other two platforms (iPhone/iPad and Windows).

I’m also going through the recent changes that have been made to the GDC server to make sure all is working well. An update they make can mean several days to process changes on my end.

There are now almost 500 registered users to the beta site. I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and interest. This is what makes the project worthwhile to me. As always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions on how to improve chatlinQ. While this is my “baby”, i’m attempting to raise it with the help of the community. Lately, feedback and donations have been rather lacking and I appeal to you to please, take a moment the next time you use chatlinQ to make a donation, provide some feedback or BOTH!

Only you can make this project better and how good depends entirely on this community.

To those of you who have donated, many many thanks.

GDC, connection issues and 284 beta

I am still tracking down all of the changes they’ve made to the system. I’ve updated SOME of the code which handles authentication, which should get you completely connected, however there are times when it connects but then drops out … This is a server side issue. The current known remedy is to bring up the connection dialog again and update … if the server disconnects you, the connection box will log you in again. This is erratic and I’m still researching.

gay.com tinkering with stuff

The bad news is that gay.com is still tinkering with stuff. The good news is that what they are changing so far won’t create too much trouble. There will be an auto update later today with new connection code to work around their latest revisions.

Apparently, gay.com has made changes to the site behind the scenes. I have noticed at least one change that is preventing a valid connection. As soon as is possible, i will update chatlinq with the necessary changes.

Be patient.

The current beta available will expire at the end of the month. I am hoping to wrap up the latest revision and get it out to you before that happens.

The next incarnation fixes a few more bugs, provides some speed boosts. No new features are being added at this point.

From here out, until the 1.0 release, features are being frozen to focus on stability, speed.

For those of you who have recently visited the site within the last 48 hours, i’ve made some changes to the site that may have rendered some links unreachable.

I have corrected the issue.

Thanks for your patience.
